Amazon Prime Day, the biggest retailer sale of the year is just around the corner. Of course, it’s never too early to start getting ready and making a wish list for a big sale.
Read on to find out what we know about Prime Day 2023 and everything you can do now to make sure you’re ready when prices finally drop.
Prime Day is Amazon’s annual sale exclusively for Prime members. It offers two days of special discount on thousands of items across all product categories.
Amazon has yet to announce specific dates for Prime Day. Last year, Prime Day lasted two days, and this year the event is also likely to last two days.
For the past few years, Amazon Prime Day has also lasted two days. Prior to 2020, Prime Day always took place in July, but the sale was delayed in 2020 due to the pandemic and took place in October instead. In 2021, the event returned to summer with a June date, while in 2022, Prime Day took place in July.
In October 2022, Amazon held its first Prime Early Access sale, an event that featured deals similar to those available on Prime Day. Prime Early Access started during the holiday shopping season, not the summer.
First things first: make sure you really have Amazon Prime Membership. You can register for 30 days free trial, after which your membership will cost $14.99/month or $139/year. In addition to fast free 2-day shipping, you’ll also have access to ad-free Prime Video music streaming, unlimited photo storage, and unlimited reading. Many of the best Prime Day deals, including Lightning Deals (we’ll get to that in a second), are only available to Prime members.
Once your membership has ended, you should also take some time to make sure your payment methods, including 1-Click settings and default shipping, are up to date so you can close the deals you want in a timely manner.
In addition, in a few weeks, Prime members will be able to set up deal notifications related to their recent Amazon searches and recently viewed Prime Day items in the Amazon app between now and the event, a feature that was available in the past. Main days. As soon as Prime Day starts, members will receive push notifications of any available deals.
Alexa will also likely be able to notify everyone about offers 24 hours before they’re available to everyone when you create a wish list, add items to your cart, or save them for later. These items can also be purchased through Alexa.
Amazon always has a wide range of offers, but you need to bookmark Amazon Deals Page on the eve of Prime Day – this is where all the items included in the sale should appear. Be sure to check in early and often on the big day; Prime Day deals will likely sell out quickly, with new deals likely to be added during the sale.

Amazon hasn’t officially announced any specific deals, but last Prime Day we saw savings that ran the gamut from electronics and large appliances to small household items. Based on what we saw last summer, here are some of the deals we expect to close this year:
• Bits Fit Pro: On the last prime day, the Beats Fit Pro cost $160 (up from $200).
• Apple Watch Series 7A: We saw the Apple Watch Series 7 on sale during Prime Day with over $100 off.
• Samsung 55 Inch Frame Series Smart TV: During Prime Day 2022, The Frame dropped to its lowest price ever.
• 2021 Apple TV 4K: Our pick of the best streaming device has been reduced by $70 on the last Prime Day – a new all-time low price.
• iRobot Roomba i7+ Robot Vacuum CleanerA: Several smart vacuum cleaner models were on sale, but this high-tech model was sold at the lowest price we’ve ever seen.
• Sony WH-1000XM4: Our selection of the best headphones overall has dropped today to a new low price in both blue and black colorways.
Amazon Prime Day isn’t the only major sale to look out for, as many other major retailers will likely be offering discounts as well.
While we recommend Amazon for many of the items listed above, both Walmart and Target can drop prices on many electronics, home goods, and more to near (or better than) Amazon prices. In July, both offered significant discounts on a huge range of merchandise to coincide with Prime Day.
Electronics giant Best Buy is also likely to compete with Prime Day deals; in 2022, the retailer was offering up to $300 on some laptops, $200 on some MacBooks, up to $350 on some gaming desktops, and up to 50% off some small kitchen appliances.
For those looking for big discounts on furniture and appliances, Wayfair is likely to be the place to find the best deals. We expect the retailer to offer discounts of up to 60% – the same discounts as in July – on the same dates as Prime Day.
