Chilling moment HGV falls on its side after cutting the M11 flyover… as RAC van drives up behind it
- Yesterday at 2.36pm, a lorry overturned on the M11, just missing other cars
- It said the driver was ‘horrified’ but was ‘okay’ with ‘a few cuts and bruises’
- An RAC van reportedly stopped at the scene, but a witness suggested this did not happen
A shocking video captures the moment a lorry overturned on the M11 yesterday after taking a sharp turn while an RAC van was driving.
A driver on the way from Romford to Bishop’s Stortford on Wednesday filmed a truck suddenly flipping on its side and narrowly missing other cars.
The driver, who asked to remain anonymous, claimed that ‘traffic was light’ and ‘nothing out of the ordinary’ until the accident at 2.36 pm.
The 45-year-old said: ‘I was on my way home from there to Bishop’s Stortford, as I use the M25/M11 every day.
‘I started to slow down when I approached a van in front of me which was behind the lorry in question.
‘As we started to turn left around the bend to enter the M11, I saw the trailer start to veer to the right and eventually, gravity took over and the trailer tipped onto its side along with the cab.’

It was said that the lorry had collided with the safety barrier on the right hand side of the road before skidding across both lanes of the M11 and crashing into the central reservation.
The clip shows Nuttall’s van surrounded by the wreckage of the crash.
The driver said: ‘The driver was fine. Some cuts and bruises and was shaken, but he was fine.

A RAC van is seen approaching on the right hand side and pulls into the hard shoulder
Once the lorry has stopped, the video shows an RAC van slowly swerving around it and then pulling onto the hard shoulder.
The driver who filmed the incident claimed that he did not remember any RAC personnel coming to help.
They said: ‘The only people who helped the driver to get out and stay with him were me, an on-duty police officer and two off-duty police officers.
RAC claimed the van driver pulled over and stopped at the scene of the accident
However, RAC denied this and claimed that their driver had stopped at the spot.
An RAC spokesman said: ‘Our patrol was following an RAC member with a newborn who was dealing with their breakdown when the incident occurred.
‘He rightly stopped on the hard shoulder to see if he could help, but he would have been putting his life at risk if he tried to cross the multiple lanes of motorway traffic. He did not leave till the police reached the spot soon.
