Right now every bus stop and billboard flashes the image of actress Lily James, embodying full-on screen-siren glamor as the star of Charlotte Tilbury’s latest campaign.

The shoot celebrates Hollywood Glow Glide Face Architect Highlighter (£38, charlottetilbury.com) which launched last Thursday.

Well Team Tilbury could be referencing the Golden Age of Hollywood. Resplendent in front of the light-filled mirror and dressed in a goddess gown, Lily, 33, looked as dazzling as she was at the Oscars.

Currently, I can barely pull myself together in the morning, let alone look like a screen legend. Still, I want in. After all, this puny time of year is also the season of awards. Our film stars have to contend with the Golden Globes tomorrow, the BAFTAs in February and the Oscars in early March. Being an icon is not easy.

Tilbury’s new highlighter, as worn here by actress Lily James, extolls the rose-gold glow the makeup guru is famous for

Lily’s look includes strong brows, neutral eyes and a glossy, coral-pink lip, while her Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Foundation (£36) is applied impeccably, as ever. However, it’s her radiantly sculpted cheeks that spell true star quality: Tilbury’s new highlighter is the apotheosis of the rose-gold glow the makeup guru is renowned for.

Available in seven shades from Moonlight Glow to Bronze Glow, it combines the powerful pigment of a pressed powder with the smooth, satiny texture of liquid shimmer. The result is an almost creamy metallic gloss designed to illuminate and sculpt skin ‘so everyone can achieve the facial architecture of the stars’.

Even further afield for Hollywood, on her website, Charlotte offers cheek, jawline, eye, nose, brow and lip techniques to cheat your way into the guise of a screen-goddess.

Matte addicts beware, this is a great reflective look for daytime. Still, I love it. It looks fresh and brilliantly young, and photographs beautifully too. By night, La Tilbury encourages retinues to damp their brushes for serious disco-dolly capos.

Obviously, Lily has a full face of Tilbury trickery. However, the two products I’ll be focusing on are the brand’s Beautiful Skin Radiant Concealer (£25) and the new Airbrush Brightening Flawless Finish (£36).

The former is a lovely, glittery, bouncy bit of under-eye genius that comes in 30 shades and can be reapplied without ever sinking into creases or making you look patchy. Billed as ‘shapewear for the eyes’, it’s sweatproof, humidity-proof and waterproof.

The latter, a face powder, blends, blurs and brightens, while giving off a natural glow.

Meanwhile, Lily’s lips have a glossy richness. Not only does it scream star quality, it’ll also fill in wrinkles on an old pout. Tilbury isn’t the only brand that excels in this department. I’m still swooning about Chantecaille’s Black Jaguar Collection Lip Chic (£38, chantecaille.co.uk).

Infused with intensely nourishing hyaluronic acid, this lipstick is rich and glossy, as well as rich in color. It comes in Passiflora, a pink toffee à la Lily in Starlet mode, and Orchid, a foxy sensual berry.

I also recommend Deck of Scarlet Théréve Solid Lip Oil (£25, deckofscarlet.com) for dewy brilliance. Again, the 25 shades are packed with hyaluronic acid, and are powerfully pigmented and super-shiny. Vitamin-rich watermelon and cucumber seed oil will smooth out January’s chapped lips and help reduce the signs of aging, too.

Thanks to mirror-like pearlescent pigments, one stroke of Scarlet’s Oils Deck produces a boldly colored, glass-like effect. I applied my mauve Minx shade in public last week, and strangers on either side of me demanded to know what it was. That’s great.

One final thing about dazzling Oscars-ready looks: A proper hairstyle will be the frame for all this makeup mastery, making your artfully sculpted bone structure stand out and everything else all the more stunning.

And remember: You don’t need a full face of slapstick to sport highlighter. A friend of mine challenged me to do one thing that would make her look more alive without makeup. I took Trish McAvoy’s Fast-Track Highlighter Stick (£31, libertylondon.com) and dabbed on a tiny ‘C’ from the outer corner of each eye, running from the top of her cheekbone down to the bottom of her eye. she was very happy.

Experiment with Maybelline FaceStudio Master Chrome Extreme in Diamond Glow (£8.99, superdrug.com) if you’re not sure. Overnight Cream (£32.95, boots.com) and its Instant Cooling Mist (£14.95).

When beauty enthusiasts fell in love with hyaluronic acid as a facial hydrator, the glowing spark started applying it to their hair, too.

However, wax and oil are also needed for this wonderful ingredient to coat the hair’s cortex, otherwise it draws water from the environment, creating frizz. L’Oréal Elvive’s bestseller, Hydra Hyaluronic Moisture Plump Serum (£12.99, boots.com) cracks it – and at a super-competitive price. It is also often on special offer.
