And now the 85-year-old star has shared that she did it because she truly believed her union with the CNN founder would last ‘forever’.

Turner is now 84 years old and is battling Lewy body dementia.
talking to entertainment tonight “I left for 15 years, when I married Ted Turner, and I didn’t think I was going to come back,” she shared, “because when I married him, I thought it would be forever.” ‘
She also added, “But I came back, and frankly, if anyone told me I’d be doing a movie like this at 85, I wouldn’t have believed them,” she continued.
‘So I feel very lucky,’ said the star of classics like Klute and Barefoot in the Park.
In her 2018 documentary Jane Fonda in Five Acts, she stated that she was very attracted to Turner.

‘That was sexy. He was brilliant. By the time I left he had two million acres of land. It would have been easier to stay,’ she shared.
‘But I had this angel on my shoulder… It was hard to even hear her voice, [saying]”If you live, you will die without ever becoming what you could have been. You will not be truly authentic.”‘
Prior to Turner, she was married to director Roger Vadim and politician Tom Hayden.
His next film, 80 for Brady, also stars Rita Moreno and Sally Field.
It is inspired by the true story of four best friends who take a trip to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to watch their hero, Tom Brady, play.
In the past, Fonda has told People that she was thrilled by Brady calling her “sweet.” The film opens on February 3, 2023.

A year earlier, Fonda had said she had no interest in remarrying.
The actress joked that a ‘successful marriage’ is the only thing she is yet to achieve in her lifetime.
However, Jen also admitted that she doesn’t want to mark the achievement, as she has no intention of walking down the aisle for a fourth time.

‘I am not threatening anyone. I can watch whatever I want on TV. That’s why I don’t want to get married again. But it is something I wish I was better at.
Her last boyfriend: Fonda and music producer Richard Perry arrive at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards – Salute to Icons Honoring Doug Morris, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in 2010.
She was married to Vadim from 1965 to 1973; for Hayden from 1973 to 1990; and to Turner from 1991 to 2001. Jen has also been romantically involved with music producer Richard Perry.
Meanwhile, the star recently said she doesn’t get intimate anymore because she’s had “so much” and quipped that things are “frozen” for her.
Asked if she’s still having ‘crazy sex’, she revealed: ‘No, zero. I don’t have time. I’m old and I have a lot of it, I just don’t need it because I’m too busy. My favorite ex-husband Ted Turner, he always said, If you wait too long, it’s over. I think he is right! I could not have sex again even if I wanted to.
And Jane also insisted that she ‘didn’t know’ how to make the marriage work.

She said: ‘For those of us who had parents who stayed married their whole lives, it’s a lot easier to manage relationships. My father was married five times. I didn’t know how to get married.
‘Maybe I was scared of getting the marriage done. I don’t know… It’s beautiful when it works, when people grow together and last a lifetime. what a beauty. I wish I could experience this.
‘I’m missing something that will work as a wedding. I don’t spend a lot of time regretting the fact that I didn’t have a long marriage. I have had three very nice, interesting marriages and I am grateful for that.’
