“Thank you Ava for the BEST day of my life and EVERY DAY since then,” the Hurt Locker star wrote on Instagram on Father’s Day in June 2022, along with a photo of him holding Ava as a newborn. “Love has never been so exquisitely defined. You will always be the best part of me. And for my Father, you are both an inspiration and my real superhero ❤️❤️.”
Renner, famous for playing Avengers member of Hawkeye/Clint Barton in the Marvel Studios franchise since 2011, shares Ava with ex-wife Sonny Pacheco.
Ever since the couple broke up in 2014, Renner has been trying to cherish the limited time he spends with his daughter. He said Men’s health in November 2021, he flew from London to Los Angeles almost every weekend for 18 months to see Ava, but eventually decided to tell the studios to work according to his schedule.
“It taught me how to be smart enough to say, ‘Everyone, go to hell. This is my time with my daughter.” Mayor of Kingstown the star said at the time, adding that he had been warned that the studios could fire him. “I said, ‘OK, remake me. I’m going to be here with my daughter. It was pretty rough.”
Renner said he should be able to visit or visit his little girl every weekend for every project, adding that he wouldn’t take the job if that wasn’t possible.
“Acting and everything else flies out the window until my daughter says, ‘I want to hang out with my friends and I don’t want to be around you so much, daddy,'” the California native said.
Although Renner and Pacheco finalized their divorce in 2015, they have been embroiled in a contentious custody battle ever since. The model alleged in 2019 court documents that Renner had previously threatened to kill her and himself, while continuing to allege verbal, emotional and substance abuse.
Renner’s rep said exclusively Us weekly at a time when Ava’s well-being was the “primary focus” of the Hawkeye star, adding, “This is a matter for the court to decide. It is important to note that the dramatizations made in Sonny’s statement are a one-sided account made for a specific purpose.”
While the Canadian native criticized Renner the following year when he demanded a reduction in child support payments amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Oscar nominee subsequently accused his ex of taking more than $50,000 from Ava’s fund “for her personal gain.”
Pacheco denied the allegations and Renner denied her allegations of abuse. “I don’t respond either publicly or privately to any nonsense,” the American Hustle Men’s Health star said at the time. “It only makes it stronger. … If you answer him, you will give him gas. I don’t start shitty fires. I just don’t do it. I refuse.
