And so it began. Patrick Mahomes and other stars traveled to Louisville on Saturday, May 6, for the Kentucky Derby that kicks off the Triple Crown in horse racing.
The 27-year-old Super Bowl LVII champion was present on Saturday to give the command to the riders, telling the jockeys to mount their horses before the start of the race.
“Ladies and gentlemen, the city of Louisville, Kentucky and sports fans around the world have been waiting for this moment – the racers,” he said at the beginning of the broadcast.
Mahomes wore bright blue trousers with a blue plaid jacket. He complemented the pastel colors with a lavender shirt that matched his wife’s outfit. Brittany Mahomes (née Matthews).
The 27-year-old former football player shone in a purple Chanel dress with pearl straps and a matching handbag. She wore metallic pink lace-up shoes and a pink hat. Although it had a wide brim, it was one of the most conservative headpieces on the track, topped with only a few pearls, an appliqué of white flowers, and a pair of large purple feathers pointed skyward.
In the other place, wolf cub alum Jan Boen For the occasion, she wore a dark blue three-piece suit. Although the actor has a lot of experience in equestrian sports after appearing as rancher Ryan in five seasons yellowstonehe joked that he could not persuade anyone to let him mount a horse.
“I told them I needed to ride and I had experience, but they still thought I was #PrettyMischievous, so it was a hard no,” Boen, 46, joked on Instagram.
Meanwhile, the Food Network chef Damaris Phillips and her husband Darrick Woodhaving fun with fashion rules. She teamed up with her friends to take on the challenge, explaining via Instagram, “Ok @kentuckyderby here we go! Today the theme of our box is animal print… My goal was to wear as many different prints as possible.”
She certainly won her competition. Southern and hungry the co-host wore a giraffe-print headdress, a crocodile-like bag, and cowboy boots with faded leopard spots. Her dress featured leopard, zebra, and tiger prints, and even a few bracelets on her arm were jungle-inspired. Meanwhile, her husband has taken to leopard print, appearing on his blazer, tie, and even the stripes on the sides of his white trousers.
