A model has been captured in several intimate photos with a 350kg Russian brown bear.

Zana jumped at the chance to pose with the bear, which attracts fans from around the world and enjoys a vegetarian diet since it was a cub.

Photographer Olga Barantseva contacted Stepan’s owners, Svetlana and Yuri Pantelenko, who adopted the bear when he was just three months old, to organize the photoshoot.

In this collection of photos, Zana, who is originally from Moscow but now lives in Cyprus, can be seen petting and caressing a bear dressed in a tiara and a long white dress.

Jhana said, ‘I have been a teddy bear artist and toy maker for 14 years.

‘Ever since I can remember I have been obsessed with stuffed toys, especially bears, they were my constant companions.

‘So, after I graduated from university, I decided to sew my first toy… I haven’t stopped since.’

She said: ‘Recently, I decided to switch to making more realistic bears and while looking for inspiration, I learned about Stepan.

‘Getting to see bears up close and seeing these magnificent animals roam free has been the dream of a lifetime.

Stephen was captured by poachers, who tried to sell the child in the market. The bear had several cuts and wounds when the Pantylenkos found it, so they took it home so it could heal.

She said: ‘It shows in how he treats his parents. He is treated with so much kindness and respect, and he gives it back.

‘He is gentle, he holds you so tenderly despite his size and weight.

‘I was very, very lucky to have met Stephen. It is a unique experience that I will always cherish.

When they found the bear it had several cuts and wounds on its body, so they took it home so it could heal.

The bear, which is more than 7 feet tall, sometimes sits with its owners in the evening watching TV, and it also helps water the plants.

Olga said she’s always liked photographing people with animals and watched some television broadcasts a few years ago with Stepan, who has also starred in several Russian films.

Olga said: ‘I have already photographed people who have traveled from Japan, China, Thailand, Austria, Switzerland, Mexico and India.’

She said: ‘I think there is too much evil in the modern world, and what I want to show is love. Love between people and nature and between people and animals.

‘What I want to show is that the world can live in harmony. I am inspired by Russian fairy tales – because they are usually full of love and kindness, where people and nature live in harmony.’
