King Charles III and Queen Camilla Visit American Idol With Katy Perry and Lionel Richie on Coronation Weekend

It’s a British invasion! King Charles III And Queen Camilla appeared on american idol after Katy Perry And Lionel Richie played at the coronation concert on Sunday 7 May.


During the broadcast of a series of competitions on the ABC channel, guest judges Alanis Morrisette And Ed Sheeran stood in for Perry, 38, and Ritchie, 73. Idol contacted the duo via satellite.

“What a party, what a party. It was incredible,” the All Night Long singer said.

“It was incredible,” Perry interjected.


Richie that they were hoping to give Idol viewers a surprise. “Now we were trying to figure out what we could do to bring something different to the show. So, I would like – Katya, sorry, I have a surprise, ”he said.

Perry stepped aside so Charles, 74, and Camilla, 75, could stand between them.

Are you going to do this all night? the king joked, referring to Richie’s famous song. “I just wanted to see how long you’ll be using this room.

The “Hi” crooner laughed, “We must give up the room immediately!”


The monarch became candid, praising their performance at Windsor Castle earlier in the day. “Thank you very much for your brilliant performance. And Katie, it was wonderful. It really was like that,” Charles croaked.

“You were fantastic, absolutely fantastic,” added Camilla.

The performers said the regents held a celebratory meeting as the coronation weekend drew to a close.

“We understand there will be a party,” Richie said.


“Ah, you heard about it, didn’t you? Charles remarked, adding defiantly, “You’re busy with all these other things.”

The Alabama native assured him, “As soon as we’re done, we’ll come to the party.”

“Well, you deserve it, bless you,” said the king. “Thank you very much to both of you. It was a wonderful pleasure.”

Charles wasn’t the only one who joked about Richie’s “All Night Long” hit. Earlier Sunday Prince William went on stage to honor the memory of his father. “I want to say a few words about my father and why I think this weekend is so important,” said the 40-year-old Prince of Wales. “But don’t worry, unlike Lionel, I won’t drag it out all night.

Both his father and wife Princess Kate giggled the audience at Windsor Castle.

Concert, which included performances Nicole Scherzinger, Olly Murs and Take That came out the day after the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey. Both Perry and Lionel attended the big event, and the “Firework” singer even made headlines when she was looking for her seat and almost tripped.
