The couple “prefers to keep things simple” when it comes to celebrating their anniversary, a source exclusively reveals. Us weekly, noting that William, 40, and Kate, 41, are usually “low-key” about the big day. However, this year the couple has exceeded all expectations.
According to an insider, the Prince of Wales took the time to “surprise Kate with a family heirloom” to mark the occasion. He gave his wife “a stunning diamond ring that belonged to (his late mother) Diana,” but that wasn’t Kate’s only gift.
“As a sweet gesture, (William) gave her a copy of the bouquet of flowers she walked down the aisle holding in her hands on their wedding day to symbolize their love, unity and friendship,” the source says. Usadding that acknowledging small details “plays an important role in keeping their marriage strong.”
The Princess of Wales treated her husband’s gift no less carefully. “Kate put her artistic skills to good use and surprised William (with) a framed sketch of the two of them from an old photo taken during their St. Andrew years,” the insider said. “He was shocked by it!”
Celebrating their anniversary last month, the Duke and Duchess shared a never-before-seen portrait with their fans on social media. “12 years old ❤️,” they wrote next to a photo of them hugging each other. The couple wore blue jeans and rode bikes.
William and Kate were college sweethearts before exchanging vows in April 2011 at Westminster Abbey in London. Their first child, Prince George, was born in July 2013, and their daughter, Princess Charlotte, was born in May 2015. In April 2018, son Prince Louis joined the family.
“They are both very grateful for what they have and consider themselves very lucky to have three beautiful, healthy children,” the source said. Us royal couple in December 2022. “But if a fourth (child) comes along, that will be something they welcome with open arms.”
An insider noted at the time that William and Kate are both “going with the flow” when it comes to further expanding their family, adding, “It’s not a priority or something they rule out. As far as their friends and family are concerned, it’s largely a matter of watching that space.”
The two have gone through their share of ups and downs over the years, including tensions with William’s brother, Prince Harry — but their love for each other never wavered. During a walk together in Birmingham, England, in April, William paid his wife an enthusiastic compliment in front of crowds of royal onlookers.

“What an amazing outfit Kate has! It’s beautiful!” one viewer cheered in a video posted on Twitter. William responded, “Oh, she always looks stunning!”
